Greetings fellow JCI Members!
“It is Health which is the real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.” – Mahatma Gandhi
Striving toward in addressing one of the Sustainable Development Goals which is to “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all.” I encourage every local organization to implement GOT HEART in their local municipalities.
Since 2014, Got Heart have reached thousands of underprivileged communities in the different parts of the country to help our brothers and sisters in need of access on physical, mental and social well-being. This aims to improve the overall health and wellness of the community through health education awareness program and counseling, as well as to provide a problem-solving formula in order to address the issues and concerns of the mind, body, spirit, and emotion.
This 2017, we aspire to create impact on more communities and to reach far flung areas which has no access to proper medical attention and to improve overall health and wellness of the community through 6 categories:
- medical mission (medical check-ups, laboratory and x-ray)
- dental mission (tooth extraction and proper oral hygiene)
- surgical mission (circumcision, minor operation, etc.)
- eye check-up (distribution of free reading glasses and eye glasses)
- pharmacy (distribute over the counter medicines)
- health education-awareness program and counseling
It will be a two-fold implementation that we hope will be mutually beneficial to our beneficiaries and to the JCI movement as well.
First run will serve as training and learning ground particularly for new members to be executed on 2nd quarter of the year (April to June 2017) each run must have 2 to 3 categories of the 6 categories mentioned. The second run will provide collaboration opportunity for chapters to work together, improve previous implementation and execute project on a higher scale to be done on 3rd quarter (July to September) which must consist of 5 to 6 categories of the 6 categories mentioned.
In line with this, please see attached project manual for guidelines on the implementation. For more information, queries and concerns you may coordinate with Ms. Ma. Aileendel “Leng” Alair, 2017 National Chairperson for Got Heart at mobile no. 0936-951-6959, email: lengzkie24@gmail.com or the JCIP National Secretariat at Telefax No. 374-4138.
